High Summer Brings With It A Huge Range Of Fresh Flowers

Wednesday, June 27th 2018 12:30pm

Hello and welcome to our blog here at Flowery Potters, we hope you are enjoying this absolutely scorching weather and ensuring that you keep all your flowers and plants well watered! Don`t forget that not all of them like to be in the sun all day so take care to give plenty of shade to the ones that need it, especially right now when the temperatures are so unusually high for this part of the world. In fact it`s not only the flowers that need some shade but we need plenty of it ourselves at the moment!

Widest Variety Of Flowers & Plants

Seasonal July FlowersWe are in high summer now as we move into the month of July, and now is the time when there is the widest variety of flowers and plants available. Here are some of our favourites at this time of the year:
  • Carnations - a very well known and popular flower that comes in ever more varieties of colours, you can take your pick.
  • Freesia - beautiful looking flowers that also give off a fantastic scent and really help to give your garden a lift.
  • Cattleya Orchid - these are particularly brightly coloured orchids if you like a real splash of colour and you usually get 1 or 2 per stem.
  • Lily of the valley - these are only small bell shaped flowers with quite a short stem and are in fact perfect to add to a wedding bouquet.
  • Sunflowers - these probably need no introduction, they are such a striking looking flower with a bright yellow colour which can grow very tall.
  • Tulips - famous in the Netherlands but we also have our fair share of tulips here in this country and they are such a beautiful flower in the gardens and fields.
  • Roses - well you can`t not pick the English rose can you?! They come in a huge variety of colours of course and are gorgeous to look at.
  • Strelitzia, or Bird of Paradise Flower - a very striking and large, attractive flower of orange and blue colours.
  • Protea - these are quite large and exotic flowers that come in many varieties and are a treat to have around.
  • Nerine - the stems of these do not have any leaves but on the top of the stems are clusters of very delicate, entrancing flowers.
